Chinese and Malaysian Companies Forge Space Partnership

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Angkasa-X, a Malaysian company, and Cangyu Space Information Communication Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. ("Cangyu Space") signed an agreement in Cyberjaya, Malaysia on July 2, to enhance collaborations in space technology, applications and talent cultivation.

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Dr. Sean SEAH Kok Wah, Executive Chairman of Angkasa-X, underlined that the joint research and development between Malaysian and Chinese companies in the space field will facilitate the development and deployment of satellites in Malaysia. The integration of expertise and innovation capabilities between the two sides will also promote mutual progress and help provide innovative solutions for resource monitoring, smart city planning and public emergency response, etc.


Liu Wei, Chairman of Cangyu Space, underscored that the company is committed to building a space-based information transmission system to provide global users with measurement, operation control, data transmission, information interconnection and other services. He hoped that the partnership with Angkasa-X will significantly enhance the satellite remote sensing capabilities of the ASEAN countries, improve resource utilization efficiency, bolster local economic development, and cultivate high-quality space professionals to contribute to the sustainable development of Malaysia's space industry.


Cangyu Space and Angkasa-X have decided to jointly build a shared constellation for the ASEAN region to meet the needs of environmental monitoring, agricultural production and emergency relief, etc. They will also launch a satellite remote sensing data trading platform for the ASEAN region to provide users with real-time satellite remote sensing imagery and high-timeliness data services. In addition, the two companies will collaborate to establish a space talent training platform, leveraging in-orbit CubeSats as the major educational tools to train hands-on professionals for the sector.
