Abu Dhabi, February 19, 2025 — His Excellency Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the United Arab Emirates Space Agency, met today in Abu Dhabi with LIU Hanchao, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Cangyu Space.

Al Qubaisi warmly welcomed Cangyu Space’s participation in the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX 2025), expressing strong support for the company’s entry into the UAE market.
“I will fully support Cangyu Space in developing its business here in the UAE,” he said. “We look forward to seeing your success and the opportunities for fruitful cooperation in our country.”
LIU Hanchao thanked Al Qubaisi for taking the time to meet despite his busy schedule and provided a brief overview of Cangyu Space’s strengths in relay satellite systems and their applications, technologies, and services.

“We are actively seeking UAE partners to engage in mutually beneficial collaboration in satellite-based telemetry, tracking, and data relay services,” LIU Hanchao said. “Our goal is to deliver high-quality and efficient services to customers across the Middle East.”
Al Qubaisi noted that China and the UAE have already signed a number of memorandums of understanding on space collaboration. “We hope to see more commercial space cooperation between our two nations. The UAE is committed to enhancing its space capabilities and has set forth an ambitious development roadmap, including the construction of multiple remote sensing and communications satellite constellations,” he said. “These plans are well aligned with Cangyu Space’s core expertise.”
The meeting was also attended by Ren Hongtao, Science and Technology Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in the UAE, Shen Shijun, Senior Vice President of Cangyu Space, and Vice President Yao Weizhi.
